About Me:
My name is Ilka Hadlock. I live in Driggs, Idaho, where I love playing in the mountains (on sleds, skis and bikes of all kinds).
I’m originally from Freeport, Maine, where I frequently got detention for filling my homework pages with drawings, not homework. It worked out for the best.
My mom was a designer, painter and photographer (yes, all of those things) so my childhood was spent following her around and absorbing information about colors and composition and layout (yes, I won the parent lottery). And also making a ton of art. We got photoshop on our massive aqua colored iMac when I was 10 and I’ve been nerding out ever since.
I went to college where I majored in economics for about 4 days before I remembered who I was and filled my schedule with art & film. No offense to econ.
In addition to running my freelance business for 10 years, I’ve been an in-house designer at Patagonia, worked in the marketing department at Jackson Hole, barista’d, bartended, served, sold skis and ran my own lobster boat.
I feel infinitely lucky to be a designer and illustrator. I love my job, I love my clients and I love making things that help their organizations succeed. And I’m not just saying that.
Thank you for your interest in my work,
